Default Getting Help In Your Trading: Some Real World Pointers That You Won't Find Elsewhere

As a person who used to be stubborn and refuse help at all costs, I often struggled with my initial trading. I got extremely lucky at times and fortunately made enough money when I was a new trader to stick at it, but once I got myself into a hole I just kept digging that hole deeper by not reaching out for help.

I think this is true about many aspects of life. We often try as hard as possible to ignore a problem or to pretend a problem doesn't even exist. Sometimes we truly don't even realize that we have a problem until some catastrophic event shows us that we do. I know people who are overweight, for example, and their doctors chastise them for it but they continue to eat out, continue to get their daily Starbucks fix, continue to disobey their doctors orders. I know others who have personal problems but for years they refuse help from those around them, they refuse help of professionals, and while they may not realize it they are actually just making the problems bigger and bigger. It's unfortunate that it often takes a catastrophic event or intervention before some people change their ways, but this is the reality.

Once that catastrophic event occurs or the intervention begins, you obviously still have a rough road ahead and a lot of hard work. You have a choice to make--will you receive and accept the help you need, whether you realize you need it or not, or will you continue to be stubborn and push away those trying to help you? Will you make the best out of a negative situation and will you give 100% to improve the problem or will you simply go through the gestures and not really accomplish anything?

These are extremely difficult questions that no one but yourself can answer. And quite honestly no one but yourself can help you until you are ready to receive help and open to make a change and make a difference. It's never too late to make positive changes and do what you know in your heart is the right thing to do.

So let's bring this back into the world of trading. It's usually a little easier in trading to realize that we have a problem because our account balance will reflect it. If you see your account spiraling out of control and constantly in the red, chances are you have a problem with your trading. It usually isn't just "a bad streak in the markets" or "bad luck" it is usually a problem. So we have a choice now--we either continue at it the way we have been doing things for so long with this problem and only make the problem worse by continuing to ruin our psychology and continuing to watch our account shrink day by day, or we can step up to the plate and reach out for help. Help in trading exists all over the place-- there are thousands of books, tens of thousands of websites, hundreds of thousands of videos. But keep in mind while resources are abundant, you will be required to do a good amount of research and maybe even some trial and error before you find a source that works for you, your trading style, and your personality.

As an example of this, just this morning I received the following email from Joe Sheedy, a new Price Action Course Member:

Clearly Joe enjoyed the course but Joe also gave a bunch of other information. He had been trading for a while now, likely realized he was doing something wrong or had a problem, turned to me for help and I'm extremely glad to say I was able to help him. Not only does that make me feel good but it makes Joe feel good too and it leaves Joe with a reward for his efforts--$1,300USD in his account after just 1 day of trading with my strategies. Joe approached the course with an open mind and was ready to solve his trading problems, and because of this he found the answer and was able to connect to the information in the course.

Sometimes it isn't about what resources we have at our disposal, it's about how we make the best of what we have and improve a situation. I'm an honest person in the world of finance--something that is unfortunately very rare--and I'll be the first to admit to you that our trading course isn't perfect-- I honestly haven't ever seen a course better than it but I'm sure there's something out there that is better. But I do know that the course is WAY more than enough to get you to where you need to be as a trader, but only if you approach it with the right mindset. In the first few lessons of the course I even explain some strategies for getting the most out of the course, yet time after time traders ignore these suggestions. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink. Price action trading is highly psychological. The strategies in price action are extremely simplistic, which is why I personally love price action and why so many traders think it is the best way to go. But if you don't approach these simple strategies with respect, you simply won't find the value in them. This is one reason why I often suggest to people to view the course slowly, and to view it multiple times to get the very most out of it.

So in wrapping all these thoughts together, if you're having trouble with your trading, don't be afraid to reach out for help. These are not only good words of advice for your trading, but for virtually all aspects of life. You'll feel better once you do reach out for help and in the best case scenario you will experience results similar to Joe's. You never know what the outcome will be until you give it a chance. Even if you failed at something in the past doesn't mean that after time, after hard work, and after self improvement you won't be great at it the next time around.
